Paul is a partner and the head of our Litigation, Insolvency, Employment and Commercial and Business Contracts Department.
His principal focus of work is divided between litigation for private clients and businesses, employment advice, insolvency advice and the drafting of commercial contracts and documents such as shareholders’ agreements, directors’ service contracts, terms of business, retention of title clauses, articles of association for companies and general contracts.
Paul takes a sensible and direct commercial approach to all litigation and disputes and is often able to negotiate settlement.
Paul is able to draft detailed documents to regulate business and contractual relationships and thereby avoid the cost of future litigation when business relationships end or there are contractual disputes.
Paul has a law degree from University College London and was admitted to practice in January 1983. He joined Freemans in 2011.
Paul was previously the senior partner of Denniss Matthews Solicitors in Clerkenwell during which time he spent over ten years acting as a receiver or liquidator of businesses which were run as going concerns, restructured and sold. He was a licensed insolvency practitioner from 1990 - 2013 and can advise in relation to all types of insolvency.
Out of office hours Paul is a musician, playing guitars and piano and he writes his own music.
