Criminalisation of forced marriage: taking it underground or to bringing perpetrators to justice?

On 16 June 2014 it became a criminal offence to force another person to marry against their will, a crime punishable by up to seven years imprisonment. The views on whether the new legislation is likely to push this issue underground, or will bring the perpetrators to justice are varied, and there has been considerable debate over the past few weeks in national newspapers, on radio 4 and in various journals.
