Each autumn, the partners elect a nominated cause to be the firm’s charity of the year for the following year. The firm support this charity by joining in events, donating “oath fees,” promoting the charity on our website, newsletters, and emails and by ad hoc collections and donations.
In previous years, the charities that Freemans have supported have included J’s Hospice, Stepping Up, World Vision and Norwood Ravenswood.
In 2018 the charity we support is Centrepoint. Centrepoint is described as “the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity.” It provides accommodation and support to homeless people aged 16 to 25. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, has been a patron of the organisation since 2005, his late mother Diana, the Princess of Wales, having been a patron before she died.
The accommodation that they provide includes emergency night shelters, short and long stay hostels, specialist projects for care leavers, ex-offenders, young single parents and supported flats and floating support services. They also help and support young people back into education, training or employment and with life skills. They have a scheme which pairs a young person with a mentor for a year.
