Our main objective is to provide a high quality legal service and the best result possible for our client, be it completing a house purchase or a complicated business transaction, dealing with complex domestic or international family issues, immigration or employment issues or in providing a fully comprehensive criminal defence service for both individuals and businesses. 

It is particularly rewarding when our work is recognised by our clients and others in the industry. We are especially proud of the recognition that we have received from a number of leading directories and for the awards earned by our specialist teams.  

Rankings

The Legal 500

The Legal 500 is a directory of the most highly regarded law firms and practitioners in the UK. The directory is compiled using independent researchers who speak to clients, to other law firms and to professionals such as barristers to find out more about us and how good we are.

Howard Freeman has been in recommended  in the directory for his skills as a commercial property lawyer in 2011, 2012 and again in 2013. Comments about Howard include that he "has notable expertise in retail and office leases, investment sales and purchases, and developments" and is "very approachable, has a vast amount of knowledge and is always available when needed."

Our Family department has been ranked every year since 2012. In the 2017 edition the department was ranked with the following comment: "Head of department Nina Hansen at Freemans Solicitors has ‘an enormous amount of experience, particularly in international work’, and Laura Coyle is ‘extremely conscientious and works tirelessly for her clients’. Consultant Rebekah Gershuny is ‘very experienced in financial remedy work. She takes the most difficult cases in her stride. She has a wonderful combination of mastering all the issues whilst cutting to the heart of the matter’. Associate Hilka Hollmann  "undertakes complex international adoption cases with ease". The firm is "rightly undaunted whoever the opponent. In the niche area of international child practitioners, it really shines."

In the 2017 edition there was also special recognition for individuals within the family department. Head of the department and Partner Nina Hansen ranked as a ‘Leading Individual’ in the field, with Associate Hilka Hollmann ranked as a ‘Next Generation Lawyer’ and both Partner Laura Coyle and Consultant Rebekah Gershuny were endorsed as ‘Recommended Lawyers’.

Our Criminal department have appeared in Legal 500 since 2012. In the 2017 edition the department was ranked and described as going "well beyond what is expected in terms of client care and preparation", and the team’s "steely determination obtains the best possible results’" ‘Excellent advocateMichael Field co-heads the department with Kishoree Kotecha-Pau, who "is an expert in every aspect of criminal law. Recent work includes a mix of fraud, extradition and serious violence cases."

In the 2017 edition both partners Kishoree Kotecha-Pau and Michael Field were placed as ‘Recommended Lawyers’ in crime.

Chambers and Partners Guide UK

Each year, Chambers and Partners UK conduct extensive, independent research into the UK legal profession and identify leading lawyers and law firms.

Our Family department has been ranked in the UK guide every year since 2013. In the recent 2018 guide the department was ranked for their work in children cross-border disputes and children public law matters described as "Robust offering in the cross-border and public children spheres, with noted strength exhibited in international issues, particularly in child abduction and leave to remove cases.

Committed to representing vulnerable individuals and making its services affordable. Acts across an impressive range of cases, from the most serious radicalisation and abuse allegations to lower-scale matters.” With noted strengths as being "...very organised. It's a really tight team there and very supportive. It's a really nice atmosphere because they have that support. It's a proper team." Clients have described the department to Chambers and Partners as "excellent customer service” and "friendly, firm and on top of issues."

In the 2018 guide Head of the Family department and Partner Nina Hansen received a top ranking whilst Partner Laura Coyle was ranked as "up and coming" and Hilka Hollmann, who has since been promoted to Partnership, as an "Associate to watch"

Our Criminal department has been mentioned in the UK guide for several years. In the 2018 guide the team were ranked and described as having a "Strong criminal practice experienced in acting on high-profile, serious cases. Frequently deals with heavyweight criminal charges, including murder, sexual offences and GBH. Also advises on terrorism-related charges."

Clients described the department to Chambers and Partners as "... well organised and very responsive to clients' needs. It has good facilities and very supportive staff; you are made to feel very welcome" and "This firm is absolutely excellent and they have recruited some of the best people to work for them. They are all amazing, helpful, kind, considerate, committed and extremely knowledgeable about their work."

In the 2018 guide Partner Kishoree Kotecha-Pau was ranked and described as "an excellent people person (who) gets result, resources cases well and is extremely up to date with the law".

Awards

We are delighted that our family department has been awarded Adoption Law Firm of the Year, and the crime department Business Crime firm of the year by Lawyer Monthly for 2017.

In 2016 we were also proud that our family department were shortlisted at the Jordans Family Law Awards in various categories; Regional Firm of the Year (London), Partner of the Year for Partner Nina Hansen, and Associate of the Year for the then Associate Laura Coyle (now Partner). 

We were also pleased that Kishoree Kotecha-Pau was awarded Society of Asian Lawyers Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year in 2013 "for her unstinting dedication to assisting those on Legal Aid and her active involvement in the campaign to protect those who may lose this valuable right."
