We get genuine satisfaction when the work we do is successful, be it completing on a house purchase or a complicated business transaction, to dealing with an international child custody battle or dealing with criminal allegations aimed at a client.
It is also rewarding for the work that we do to be recognised by others, and we are pleased to say that this has happened on a number of occasions.
The Legal 500 is a directory of the most highly regarded law firms and practitioners in the UK. The directory is compiled using independent researchers who speak to clients, to other law firms and to professionals such as barristers to find out more about us and how good we are.
Howard Freeman has been in rated in the directory for his skills as a commercial property lawyer in 2011, 2012 and again in 2013. Comments about Howard include that he "has notable expertise in retail and office leases, investment sales and purchases, and developments" and is "very approachable, has a vast amount of knowledge and is always available when needed."
Our family and crime departments have also ranked in the directory in 2012 and again in 2013. Family is "known for its work in landmark child abduction cases such as Re E" (a Supreme Court case) in 2012 and head of department Nina Hansen "brings a calm and astute perspective to cases, and moves between care proceedings, private children cases and international children's cases with consummate ease".
Our crime team provides a "good, personalised service". Michael Field is an "outstanding trial advocate', and "handles a broad range of cases from burglary to sexual assaults on children."
Each year, Chambers and Partners conduct extensive, independent research into the UK legal profession and identify leading lawyers and law firms.
In 2013, and again in the 2014 directory, Freemans Family Department were ranked in the annual Chambers and Partners Guide as specialists in the field of Cross-Border Children work, with Nina Hansen receiving an individual ranking as a ‘Leader in her Field'.
Nina has been ranked as a Band 2 Specialist in the field of Cross Border Children law, with the research noting her "tactical and visionary support." She is described as "always emotionally astute and smart, supporting the child, calming people down and supporting the client no matter what time of the night or day" with one client commenting that "her approach is wonderful; if only all lawyers were like her."
The Family department also received a Band 2 ranking, and are described as a "meticulous, accommodating and efficient" team, who are "intellectually sound and very knowledgeable of the law in complicated cases." The team has received "effusive" praise for their "one-to-one care and attention to detail."
We were delighted that Karan Chadha was awarded the prestigious title "Associate Solicitor of the Year" at the annual Jordan's Family Law Publishing Awards Ceremony on 10 October 2012.
Freemans Family department stood out at the award ceremony as Maria Wright was also shortlisted from the many nominees for Junior Solicitor of the Year.
In 2013, Freemans was shortlisted for the Family Law Firm of the Year award.
